GRADUATE - emma king

emma king is a graphic design graduate, who as part of her final year project at sheffield hallam university began to explore and develop a series of patterns created using letters of the alphabet. emma created 144 final typographic patterns from a series of 6 very different typefaces, using uppercase letters from A-Z. as well as the plain black and white vector patterns emma also started to add colour to the patterns, printed them on fabric and experimented with other ways of rendering them such as lasercutting and embossing.

KIDS DESIGN - love it love it love it

ruth lopardo wrote to tell me about all the fantastic childrens patterns she comes across in her online store love it love it love it. ruth stocks brands such as duns sweden who are a husband & wife team who only work with organic fabrics. christin kers designs all the prints herself in gothenburg. another brand shown in this post is liandlo who are named after a pair of swedish cartoon characters and specialise in very retro prints.

DESIGNER - sian elin

sian elin decided to leave her full-time job in publishing, where she worked as a book designer for both the oxford university press and penguin, to follow her love for pattern design. sian loves to hand draw her designs which she then colours digitally. because sian worked in the area children's books she feels a lot of her work is appropriate for the children's market, but they are also transferable to older age groups and she would warmly welcome any enquiries licensing or commissions.
